Why is my hair so dry and cant keep it straight?

i use the chi straightner that i got from ebay...after straighten it my hair dnt look silky n straight n chi infusion dont help at all ...when i step outside my hair gets bumpy not straight n i get knots too..why does it happen...why cnt my haiir looks silky straight when i straighten it my hair is very dry
